Bye Bye Vista, Hello XP?
Well most of you will think that I will be saying hello Windows 7, hmm …. not really…
The past 2 days has been quite horrifying for me. I decided to finally bow out of Windows Vista and welcome back Windows XP on my Lenovo Y300 laptop.
Well it’s an unthinkable thought but I finally gave up on Vista due to the following reasons.
Here’s my take on Vista.
- The constant prompts like allowing file operation to proceed and so on is damn annoying and performance is by far slagging even thought I’ve upgraded my RAM to 3GB.
- It took me 5 minutes to transfer 1 GB of data from my Local D drive to my external 1TB Western Digital Hard drive in XP but in Vista it tooks me over 45 minutes!
- There are a couple of sites that hangs upon browsing…. which finally lead me to this downgrading process.
Before you perform any downgrading there are a couple of things you MUST take note.
Use n-Lite To Make Your Customized Windows CD
There will 2 angles when people look at the title.
One - Some people may think I’m talking about piracy, which is simply NOT what I going to talk about.
OR
Two - It’s another crazy idea which can be sensible and realistic.
Here’s the scenario:-
You have a habit of formating your laptop or desktop most of the time. During re-formatting, you will have to get ready all the the CDs associated to the process; 1 CD/DVD for the Windows Operating System and maybe a couple of cds for drivers. After that, if you are a tweaker you might have to tweak your Windows (disabling this and that).
What n-Lite does for you is compile everything to 1 media which is a CD or DVD.
Think of this, you will only need 1 CD or DVD to complete the whole process of installing the operating system, drivers and hotfixes.
