Cablenut Optimized Settings For Windows
Since I’ve downgraded to Windows XP on my Lenovo laptop recently, I did suffer a slight dip in my internet surfing.
This is because unlike Vista, XP is only based in IPV4 protocol wherelse in Windows Vista you have IPV6 protocol to support internet connection bandwidth.
But one thing good about XP, is that, you can tweak settings ( that includes internet, themes and performance) to your hearts desire.
Being a great hobbyist on tweaking, I decided to do some tweaking on the internet connection settings.
I’ve downloaded a software called Cablenut.
With Cablenut I can set internet optimized setting in the registry directly via this software.
Let’s me share your my setting and it has improved my connectivity by 60%.
Install Your OS In Your Thumbdrive
Based on my previous post, you have remember that I will post a topic on how you can use your thumbdrive as a boot install.
Since my laptop is pretty screwed, I decided to take up this challenge of doing so.
If you realized, Linux based operating system are the ones who started the idea of an OS USB installer, notably Damn Small Linux and Puppy Linux.
What about Windows?
Yes you can , though the steps might be bit technical but it’s a FACT that it is possible.
Use n-Lite To Make Your Customized Windows CD
There will 2 angles when people look at the title.
One - Some people may think I’m talking about piracy, which is simply NOT what I going to talk about.
OR
Two - It’s another crazy idea which can be sensible and realistic.
Here’s the scenario:-
You have a habit of formating your laptop or desktop most of the time. During re-formatting, you will have to get ready all the the CDs associated to the process; 1 CD/DVD for the Windows Operating System and maybe a couple of cds for drivers. After that, if you are a tweaker you might have to tweak your Windows (disabling this and that).
What n-Lite does for you is compile everything to 1 media which is a CD or DVD.
Think of this, you will only need 1 CD or DVD to complete the whole process of installing the operating system, drivers and hotfixes.
Turn Your IPod As A Portable Laptop
Laptop is portable ….. but an IPod as a laptop?

Well, when I explain to my friends and collegues about this discovery …. almost everyone laughed and said “You’re kidding ….right”.
As you normally guess …. it is definately a discovery, no kidding.
Technology is movin at a fast pace right now and you can actually turn your Ipod or any storage device (portable hard disk, USB drives) into a portable laptop virtually.
With Mojopac, this fantasy is a reality.
Troubleshoot Unmountable Boot Volume BSOD
I recently a panic call from a friend stating that her laptop has a BSOD while booting up.

As you seen above, this is another case of a corrupted boot menu which is a very common thing on a Windows XP operating system.
How to solve it?
The recovery console , what better way…..
Run Skype From Your Thumbdrive
Recently, I’ve covered a topic on portable applications and I believe that more and more people would want to make full use of their existing thumbdrive.
One application that is not in the list of portable applications on the portableapps.com website is Skype.
Skype, as you all know, is the most used VOIP application and almost majority of the desktops and laptops in the world will have Skype installed in their PC.
Best of all, now you can make it portable and run it on your thumbdrive.
Cool ……. lets’ begin.
Make Your Applications Portable On A Stick
Being an IT administrator, I have always wanting to make life simpler for myself; i.e. to carry my programs (or program files) and use them whenever I go.
A laptop is a good mobility tool but sometimes you can’t possibly use it at work or carry it everywhere ( do note my Lenovo is like 3kg and the battery life last for about an hour and a half on full charge).
Though this is a laptop blog, I would also like to share with you technologies that can be made much more simpler for us users.
I’ve recently made my imation Flash Go! USB drive a portable application.
To make my explanation sounds simpler, I can now run my office suite, browser, chat program, media player, password manager tool, anti-virus, pdf reader, e-mail client and much more … all from my USB thumbdrive.
That’s a lot of stuffs there and my thumdrive is only 4 Gb, so how is this possible?
Free Mobile Phone Calls Via My Laptop
For some, the title of this post might a bit ridiculous …… but it is actually true.
What did I do to get this service?
Well you simply need to get an internet connection ready, a laptop and your mobile phone with you.
Poketalk.com allows you to sign up for free and have your mobile calls made for free too. Seems confusing …..
Well this is how it works…..
