Is your Network Connection Keeps On Reconnecting
Though I’m attending a Microsoft Certification course on Windows Server 2008 right now; some of the items that I’ve learn along the way are very useful for the laptop an desktop users alike.
One thing that I find common in Windows systems alike is when the TCP/IP protocol becomes corrupted, symptoms like your internet connection connecting and reconnecting every few seconds appear.
It is one of the biggest headache for users as the repair function of this network connection did not work. You might see your IP address appears as 0:0:0:0 !
Bing To Bong Google Yahoo
Is it me or the title of this post just don’t make any sense.
Actually there is a new search engine in town and it is called Bing (hey I’m not binging around
).
Microsoft has actually decided to overcome its failure in the Live Search brand with Bing which is proclaimed to outstead Google and Yahoo search engines in future search use.
Why I’m covering this post you might wonder, as it got nothing to do with laptops? For me, anything that has got to do with the internet has got everything to do with my laptop …. especially with this blog where I got to communicate with you all ….
I’m quite excited to test out the Bing feature (just to see how true Microsoft has evolved in search engine - Live Search is the one I normally avoid as it has just not live up to its expectation).
Here’s how the Bing Search engine looks like below.
More Applications Running On Silverlight
Just as the time when lots of applications on the web are running on Adobe Flash (e.g watching videos on youtube.com), Microsoft so-called flash based web application named “Silverlight” is gaining momentum as more and more web-based mash-ups/applications are based on that.
Question ….. what has it gotta do do with me?
Well, it actually has an effect on users and a techie guy like who is always on the internet; it definately does.
As more and more web applications run on silverlight, internet browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome and many others will be affected.
How it affects the user, is when a website prompts “You need the latest version of Silverlight” message box appears on the desktop and it will be a complete disaster if your web browser does not support Silverlight.
Till now linux based browser Konqueror and cross-platform based browser Opera has yet had official support for Silverlight. Whether is it a Microsoft tactic to kill Adobe Flash or web browser competition is yet been known.
Websurfers, like you and me however, can enjoy the rich and dynamics of websites that is being displayed on our desktop.
Clear Up Google Chrome
As you know Google Chrome has been around for a while and to tell you frankly it is one of my favorite browsers on my laptop to date.![]()
There are a couple like Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera and many others but what I really like about Google Chrome is the speed.
However there are certain features in Google Chrome that is not up to my preference like the menu and clearing of private data.
Although there is a button from settings icon that says “Clear browsing data”, it does not actually cleared all the data cleanly …. hmmm …..
Watch Carlsberg Web-TV From Your Laptop
I was surf anonymously (as ever) on my Lenovo Y300 laptop and stumbled on this new site that is creating quite a buzz recently.
Being a huge football fan, I think this site has something better as compared to YouTube.
Carlsberg - Part Of The Game is a new site launched by the brew maker dedicated to football and fan life. There are a total of 5 channels that showcase all aspects about football from the classic football matches to life as a fan. Check out video clips about football funnies and rituals from the Football Magic channel (something you won’t want to miss
).
As similar to YouTube, users can upload their videos to this site as well.
So check out this new buzz by Carlsberg at PartOfTheGame.tv .
