Run Skype From Your Thumbdrive
Recently, I’ve covered a topic on portable applications and I believe that more and more people would want to make full use of their existing thumbdrive.
One application that is not in the list of portable applications on the portableapps.com website is Skype.
Skype, as you all know, is the most used VOIP application and almost majority of the desktops and laptops in the world will have Skype installed in their PC.
Best of all, now you can make it portable and run it on your thumbdrive.
Cool ……. lets’ begin.
If you have Portableapps application, installed on your thumbdrive follow the following instructions:-
- You will need to copy the Skype.exe file from a computer which has Skype installed on a laptop or desktop. This file is located at “C:\Program Files\Skype\bin” folder.
- Make a new folder called SkypePortable in thumbdrive at the PortableApps folder.
- Copy the Skype.exe to this folder.
- Next in the SkypePortable folder, make another new folder called data.
- In this data folder, rightclick your mouse and create a text file.
- Type the following in the text file
- skype.exe /datapath:”Data” /removable
- Save the text file as skype.bat
Now you have a Skype Portable in your thumbdrive.
