Open Office Release 3.0
The alternative office suite for PCs (laptops included), OpenOffice.org, has now released version 3.0 of its office suite.
There are many new features in this new suite and for the first time ever ” a PDF importer”.
Which means you can import you pdf files …. edit them up and save as a document, spreadsheet, presentation or draw file (something Microsoft haven’t come out with
).
Though Microsoft has been working with third party ….. Able2Extract on this function to be in the future releases of Microsoft Office suites, Sun Microsystems has leapfrog a step further with this release.
If you are to check out the below screenshots, the new Open Office.org has centralize all its office applications in a new interface called the “Start Center”.

Futhermore, all new file formats from the Microsoft Office 2007 (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx ) can be open using this version of Open Office.
The charts function in spreadsheets has improved quite a lot in Open Office 3.0 and you can stop noticing why.

Presentation has also improved in Impress which is part of Open Office 3.0 office suite. With new templates, creating your presentation slides couldn’t get any easier.
