Combine Your Drives Using GParted
What if you can move your C and D drive together without the loss of data?
Sounds like a tough one to answer, right
.
Well, I’ve been busy finding a solution on this problem and I can tell you that most windows based applications do not work too well on this.
Yes, there’s Symantec Partition Magic, Acronis Disk Director and many others but when dealing with C dive ( which is where the main program files are kept) …. changes are you will an fatal error during the process.
I’ve tried Symantec Partition Magic ….. and it hits an error when the process reach 55%. I repeated this process again and again (for about 8 times to be exact) and the same error pops out ; you can sense how frustrating it becoming.
I did a google search and check forums for answers but to no avail.
It is till I came across GParted Live ……
What is GParted anyway?
It is actually a Linux (debian based) application that can be run on either a CD, USB or any removable media. It is like a partition manager where you can actually resize or merge and manage the space in your hard disk drive.

It supports file formats like ext, ext3, fat, fat32 and ntfs (among the poppular ones).
Like any process the merging can occur if your D drive has an unallocated file system ( simply means that it is not formatted partition).
I have backed up all my data on a seperate hard disk to be safe. This is something you should always take note before performing this kind of operation.
Once your D drive is empty and an unrecognize partition, simply click the resize button or you can just resize the C drive from the interface above. Click apply once you are ready to make changes.
Now you have more space and combine your C and D drive.
Gparted Live is a free & open source application.

I found your site in google when I was looking up blogs. I realy like what you have done and just wanted to leave a comment saying so. Cheers
Hi Jenny …. thanks for the compliment and happy holidays.
Hi,
This is the first time i came to your blog and i must say i like it alot! Specially the articles. I would like to suggest you to add your articles to http://www.add-article.info . It’s a site where people go to find articles. So i suggest you go there and register. Once you register, you can add descriptions of your articles in less than 30 seconds. By doing that, you will recieve two links to your blog and a picture of your blog next to the description. That way people will find your blog and you will get many new visitors. Do not forget to vote for your articles after you add them to that site, that way you will be on the first site for a long time (tell others to vote too).
Well anyhow, hope to see you there soon
, if not, good luck with your articles and keep up with good work.
Cheers,
Matt
