Top Budgets Laptops Under US$1K (Part 4)

Filed Under (Notebook Hardware, Notebook Reviews) by Mohd Fauzi A Rahman on 22-05-2008

I’m back with the number 2 of this series and as we are moving closer to number 1, just a sneek peek on what is upcoming on Laptop Info Today.

There will be new products that I’ll be reviewing within the next couple of months so you might want to subscribe to my RSS feed to get the latest information or updates of the new and upcoming posts via RSS.

As ever the PC show 2008 is coming to town (12 till 15 June 2008).

As always I’ll be covering that as well and judging by the overwhelming response I had received ( a staggering 200 odd visitors per day on this site), you bet I’ll be covering more tips on how to make the event work to your advantage.

Also there will be an “Izzy Rocks” column at the end of every post from now on. This is my personal opinion and comments after my overall review which you may or not find it useful. Generally it is un-bias opinion that’s all.

Now let’s get back to the topic which I’m reviewing today which is the number 2 laptop that is budgeted below the $1K value.

If you are familiar with Laptop branding, you will find this brand very familiar. It has to be because it is one of the largest notebook making companies in the world and being at number 2 it is not very surprising according to my standards :D .

What notebook brand am I talking about?

Mahalo : A New Social Search Engine

Filed Under (Notebook Reviews, Notebook Talk) by Mohd Fauzi A Rahman on 09-04-2008

Web 2.0 is nothing new in the online world especially working with your laptop (how comfy :) )

But a Web 2.0 with search engine (like google) capabilities?

Well that’s something new.

Introducing Mahalo …… a new and social (web 2.0 style) search engine.

Being new to the scene, Mahalo is not as big as the current big giants like Google, Yahoo or MSN but their catch phrase attracts me.

Mahalo : Human Powered Search (We’re here to help) tells you how friendly their service can be as compared to the big players out in the online world.

You can gather as much information you want from News, Videos, How To Tutorials and many more at the Mahalo homepage.

It’s one of the friendliest search engine around, you can even create your own account even!

To check out Mahalo Search Engine, visit Mahalo.com for more information.

Filed Under (Notebook Hardware, Notebook Reviews, Notebook Talk) by Mohd Fauzi A Rahman on 31-03-2008

Its been quite a while since I post anything directly related to laptops, pardon me ya’ all.

It’s also been quite sometime since I post my laptop essential series since the first being the in-built webcam and the second one being the in-built wireless adapter (or wifi).

Today I will be talking about another essential element that can be found in today’s laptops : The Bluetooth technology.

I remember back then, when bluetooth technology just kicked off, people are packing IT shops getting the craze item at the time; the bluetooth wireless adapter for laptops and mind you it’s not cheap.

Now why a laptop with bluetooth technology is essential.

Feedflare Contest Via My Laptop

Filed Under (Notebook Greetings, Notebook Money, Notebook Reviews) by Mohd Fauzi A Rahman on 30-03-2008

I was browsing the all of the broadcasts that were sent to me from BlogCatalog.com on my e-mail today (on my trusted Lenovo laptop) when I bumped into another contest organized by one the popular bloggers online: Collin De Ruyck from feedflare.ca aka konvictCollin at BlogCatalog.com.

I’ve checked it out and I say to myself “Why not give it a shot.”

His contest terms and conditions for the contest are pretty simple actually

  1. You need to subscribe to his RSS feed via e-mail.
  2. You need to write a post with 2 links directed back to Feedflare.ca (as you can see in this posts I have a couple already :D )

And that’s it.

The contest will end on April 1st so you might want to rush down your entries for the contest.

You might want to check out his site to know more RSS and social marketing and that is at feedflare.ca.

I Sold 2 NEC E6300 Laptops!

Filed Under (Notebook Events, Notebook Hardware, Notebook Money, Notebook Operating System, Notebook Reviews, Notebook Talk) by Mohd Fauzi A Rahman on 11-03-2008

Well not really though.

I had 2 working colleagues of mine who wanted to get themselves a personal laptop and need me to be their adviser. ( :) I feel like a V.I.P somehow)

Anyway I’ve been going through the lists of brochures from all the booths ….. and boy it’s hard to make a decision, mind you.

Normally I will narrow down to 3 models based the value-for-money criteria due to the fact my friends aren’t gamers and they are basically getting a new notebook for surfing for office work purposes.

I had to bring my 3 year old son along on that day which were packed with enthusiastic buyers gunning for the bargain items on display. Then after much research I had recommended both my friends the NEC E6300 notebook.

Check out the specs below:-

Intel Centrino Duo CPU processing at 2.0GHz, 160GB of Hard disk space, 3GB Ram (after free upgrade), 2.0 megapixels in-built webcam, Bluetooth and Wireless (G) networking built-in, interactive touchpad & hotkeys, DVD-Dual Layer built in and it comes with Windows Vista Home Premium operating system.

Well the shock part is, this 14.1 inch notebook that weighs about 2.38kg cost about SGD$1499.

And that’s not all, apart from its white-leathery finishing on the back of the LCD, it comes together with freebies such as cleaning kit, an optical mouse, a NEC laptop bag and a free one-year subscription of Norman anti-virus.

I’m pleased that my friends were happy on that day, and why not they got a steal of a deal!

My son and I also enjoy the atmosphere very much on that day ….. and it’s been quite an experience.
