IE 8 Beta 2 Is Ready
Microsoft has launched IE8 beta 2 for users and testers to download.
Personally, it is not yet a finished or stable software and do download this with caution; whether you’re downloading to your desktop or your laptop.
There are a couple of new feature added after the IE7 release which I personally believe the features are already there in Firefox ( cause I’m a big fan of Firefox, that’s why
).
Here are some of the new additions to IE8 beta2.
- Accelerators
- Automatic Crash Recovery
- Enhanced Navigation
- Web Slices
- Improved Favorites and History Management
- Instant Search
- Increased Performance
The interface, however, is somewhat similar to IE7 (nothing much changes there).
However the new features like accelerators, web slices and automatic crash recovery will be keeping interesting to know more.
Know Your Laptop Battery
When given this question to any laptop or notebook computer user, they will get puzzled.
This happens to me once when someone ask me about my laptop battery.
As you can see, before you replaced your laptop battery it is quite important to know a bit on the back ground first. There are several types of laptop batteries which I will share in this post.
Types of Laptop Batteries:-
- Alkaline - This is one of the common batteries around but only few laptops used it and the flaw about alkaline batteries is that is not rechargeable. You have to throw it once it goes flat.
- Lead Acid - One of the most commons usage for this type is for laptop computers. It is long lasting, durable and rechargeable but unfortunately it is heavy and full of lead
. - Lithium-Ion - The type of battery you would want to have for your laptop. The fast charging effect make it good for users on the go (need not wait for a long time for the battery to get charged completely). It is also environment friendly as well.
- Nickel-Cadium - Ni-Cd batteries is one of the oldest and best performance types of rechargeable batteries but it has a major problem. After a long usage ( a few years), the battery will suffer from the dreaded memory effect. This means that the lifespan usage of the battery will deteriorate as time goes by.
- Nickel- Metal Hydride - Ni-MH batteries is considered to be the successor of the Ni-Cd batteries but unfortunately the dreaded memory effect is as bad as well. However as compared between Ni-Cd and NiMH batteries, the latter last longer as compared to its predecessor.

Laptops In History - The Osbourne 1
When we see how sophisticated and sleek the laptops are these days, we tend to forget and keep on complaining about today’s laptop.
Personally I feel laptops have leap through giant footsteps to be it is today and when I look back I very grateful to own a laptop that is so easy and portable.
Today I’ll be talking about the Osbourne 1.
As you all know, the Osbourne 1 is the first successful portable computer ever made.
Not may may agree with me when you look at the picture below

The Osbourne 1 was created in 1980 by Adam Osbourne who was also a computer book author and publisher. He has a big vision that one day computers are made to be portable …. and that vision has came true with today’s portable laptops.
The computer was price at US$1795 at that time, consisting of of a set of keyboard, two floppy disk drives and a credit card sized monitor.
At that time 10, 000 units were sold each month and it was a major success as I could see it
.
However by 1983, the Osbourne was overtaken by IBM and this model died.
So now, what do think about your laptop today?
I think you will start to be grateful about it and cause you need not have to carry a 24 pounds of Osbourne 1 on your back. Just Imagine ……

One Laptop Per Child ….. Possible
Hi there …. it’s been a while since I post something on my blog and now with this campaign coming around (”One Laptop Per Child” or OLPC for short), something which we think was impossible in the past will become a reality somewhere near the future.
Since computers and laptops prices are down even further, consumers can now afford at least a PC for their child.
Now with ultra budget laptops like the Eee PCs and the atom chipset PCs, it is now a possible reality that one day (which begins now) that everyone can have at least a computer at their home.
Maybe the digital age begins ………….. (anyway it is starting already
