Hi guys ….. I’ve been out for a while (2 weeks to be exact) performing some “National Duty” thing; which explains why I’ve not been updating my blog, making comments at Blog Catalog and MyBlogLog, etc.
And since I’m back (so very gratefully ……. can you imagine 2 weeks without internet access and even a pc for me to get my hands on….sigh…), I’ll be doing a second part to my Laptop Essential Series which is pertaining the in-built wireless adapter.
The wireless adapter in our notebook today are almost a must have item in this fine electronic box.

Back then, about 5 years ago ….. you’ll need an external adapter to wireless -ly connected to the Internet.
Some might have in-built already but those may only support the B- networks which has a data transfer rate of 11 Mbits/s and it is quite costly during those days.
With the majority of networks now supporting G networks …. data transfer rate of 54 Mbits/s, you can see the difference in speed right there.
Now with the up and coming N networks already in the scene; promises a dramatic transfer rate of 248 Mbits/s, you can see how important a wireless adapter can be an essential part of your notebook computer.
One important factor you need to know when using wireless…….. you need to know your specs of wireless adapter and what it can supports..
For easier understanding ….. if your wireless adapter is and 802.11b/g, this means it can capture wireless signals coming in from B and G networks wireless routers only.
With that in mind, you will now have a clear understanding on your in-built notebook wireless adapter signal receiving transmission.
Next, the in-built wireless adapter provides lots of conveniences to users……. Why?
Users, like you and me, need not have to think about bringing along a USB wireless adapter or even a PCMCIA card which can be misplaced or damaged easily if not taken care or in a proper manner.
It is in-built…. so convenient, not much headache whatsoever.
Like if you need to video chat in a wireless hotspot area; with the in-built webcam (which is covered in my previous Laptop Essential Series post) and the in-built Wifi ….. coupled with the softwares of today like Skype, QQ, Windows Live plus many others out there …. you are ready to go without the hassle of thinking about cables and others.
When you think about the convieniences of today’s notebooks, well you could imagine what is life back during the 286 laptop days!
